Creativity in the classroom: What, how and why for educators

By John Munro
Price: $37.89

The author argues creativity is an important twenty-first century skill, but asks what does it ‘look like’ in the educational context and how do we achieve it? He discusses types of creativity, desired outcomes and the processes that lead to them, and the place of creativity in educational curricula. He comments on the urgency of learning how to assess and teach creativity explicitly, in a context where, internationally, the OECD will include the assessment of creative and critical thinking in PISA from 2021, in addition to reading, mathematics and science, while in Australia, ACARA is recommending an immersion–infusion approach to embedding creativity in the curriculum.
