Our Mission

CSE is renowned for its provision of exceptional strategic consultancy and advisory that connects the teaching profession, education agencies, researchers and policy makers.

We regularly publishes stimulating, thought-provoking and influential papers and texts, written by national and international education researchers, leaders and experts.

CSE Governance

The Centre for Strategic Education is the business name adopted in 2006 for the Incorporated Association of Registered Teachers of Victoria. (IARTV).

Simon Le Plastrier

Board  Chair and Acting CEO, Centre for Strategic Education

Simon Le Plastrier continues to contribute to the future of education through his diverse range of positions. He is the former Principal of ELTHAM College, Melbourne. He currently serves as the Chair of the Centre for Strategic Education and has previously held the position of Board Chair at Berengarra School, also in Melbourne.

Additionally, Simon is a Fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders. His past roles include serving as Deputy Principal at Trinity Grammar School in Kew and Deputy Head of the Plenty Campus at Ivanhoe Grammar School.

Simon remains committed to making a meaningful impact in the areas of school management, curriculum development, and pastoral care.

ANTHONY MACKAY AM

Consultant Advisor, Centre for Strategic Education

Anthony Mackay AM is immediate past CEO and current Co-Chair of the Washington DC-based National Center on Education and the Economy.

Anthony was inaugural Chair Australian Institute for Teaching & School Leadership; inaugural Deputy Chair Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority; immediate past Chair Australian Council for Educational Research and immediate past Deputy Chair of the Education Council New Zealand.

Anthony is Deputy Chancellor Swinburne University, Melbourne; Honorary Senior Fellow, Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne; Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Education Southern Cross University; and Visiting Professor, International Centre for Educational Enhancement, University of Bolton UK. He is CEO, Centre for Strategic Education, Melbourne and Co-Chair of Learning Creates Australia.

Anthony is co-founder of GELP and was foundation Chair of Innovation Unit. He is an Expert Advisor to OECD, to the WISE Leadership Network and the Global Cities Education Network, and is a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar.

Anthony is the Moderator for the annual International Summit on the Teaching Profession and the High Performing Systems for Tomorrow Program.
